One night in Gimpsville

What can I say I know it’s a play on a Murray Head song but hey that’s how I roll these days!

The week has gone the way of previous weeks, work, work and then some more work, a major windows update on the lap top and then nothing working as it used to, me being the Luddite that I am, the wife has taken the axe out of my hands more than once.

Health wise I have been up and down more than a bride’s nighty, I am at the diabetes clinic next week I feel a huge whinge welling up within, watch this space! I had a lazy day planned yesterday and I was mainly successful, we had a husband and wife kind of day, that’s mean I stay in and the wife buggers off with the Kraken, a nice quiet day for me, until she arrives home at the height of the worst shower of rain so far this year, yes, I got wet and actually I didn’t have an issue with it! WTF, I know I couldn’t believe it either. But I do like the rain so maybe that’s it!

We got settled in for an early evening of TV, computers, reading and generally scratching ones butt, the wife had an invite to go out, at the last minute she decided not to go, anybody who knows her knows that this involves at least 24 hours of should I stay in or should I go out! Decision made I made a lovely tea and we prepared to go into night mode, I was not asleep I merely blinked after a late tea!

The wife’s phone trilled (hahaha nobody texts me) and then all of a sudden, we are going for a drink in Gimpsville, do I want go? Of course, not, but what say do I have in it, I have now got to get dressed in grown up clothes, I still manged to beat the wife by a good 45 minutes! We ambled along to spoons to meet up with a work colleague of the wife’s who has suffered a knee injury that has got her pretty much house bound and is going stir crazy so any chance to escape is gratefully welcome and we were to offer moral support, we can do that.

I did what I was paid to do which was to be pretty and say little, again I can do that, it also gives me the opportunity to do what I like best, people watch and good grief was this fun, again I spent the first ten minutes scanning the room to see if there was anybody I actually recognised, there were one or two familiar people , people who I hadn’t spoken to in over 45 years, it’s funny I remember them but they do not have a clue who I am, not that that matters at all.

Once I realised I was yet again a stranger in a strange land, I then watched all the young people, me and the wife weren’t the oldest people in the room but we weren’t far short I bet! I noticed how popular Gin has become, no thanks I will stick to my Jack and Coke, even the wife had a bottle of cider, what is the world coming too, oh yes, I know, Gin drinkers, good grief what a bunch of posers, it was all “oh look at me I’m drinking Gin”.

As always our local spoon’s sounds like a bloody hen house when it gets to capacity, and after a while it sets off my tinnitus, so all I can do is stand and grin at the right moment (hopefully) nod, and pray nobody thinks I’m a doofus, I did some more people watching and then just like that it was over, we enjoyed a leisurely pace home, lets be honest we don’t live that far from our established drinking hole, so it was actually a pleasant walk home with me trying to drag the wife into a number of fast food establishments and other drinking holes, she didn’t bite and we arrived home unscathed, how rock and roll are we, that we relaxed watching the tv with a cup of tea and some mango swiss roll and chocolate biscuits! That’s how we roll in Gimpsville, an unexpected night out, however it was enjoyable and it proved that I could behave in company that I don’t really know.

Thankfully the germ of an idea formulates (this blog) and even though I was up at silly o clock, I was happy, as it means that I could then polish this, there was still large quantities of bile floating around at the moment and hopefully I haven’t left too much in here? The coming week is a full week of night shift (oh deep joy) but it just means I can cause chaos and panic within the confines of my night time staff, it means that I can avoid my technology issues that have been disruptive over the last week or so, I hopefully will come back to them with a clearer head (hahahahahaha yeah right).

So, there’s the blog still not I was hoping for but for better or worse it’s what I have, so watch the skies for incoming and keep spreading the disease, all readers are good readers until the next time Toodles!
